Recorded at the duos’ respective homes during the waning days of the covid quarantine, Annual Rings' self-titled release is the culmination of exchanging and spontaneously reworking digital audio files. With a limited palette of live drums, swelling synthesizers, and textured guitars, the pair allowed intuition to guide the recording process and ensuing arrangements. The resulting instrumental collages blend jazz rhythms with swirling electronics, while drawing on the repetition of minimalism and the spaciousness of ambient soundscapes.

Annual Rings is comprised of longtime friends Roy Brooks (Chapel Hill, NC) and Vincent Whitehurst (Raleigh, NC), who bonded in the mid-nineties over their mutual fondness for angular guitars, lo-fi home recordings, and hip hop.
